The first Elektor 2017 edition has just been released! It is available for purchase as a pdf document or as a printed magazine with free shipping for a limited time only. This edition includes an IoT shield for Arduino, sand clock, DAB + antenna diplexer, D-Watt amplifier, colored LEDs and much more!
One of the highlights of this edition is certainly the Sand clock. A real eye-catcher! This nifty gadget built around an Arduino Uno uses servos and a pantograph mechanism to write the time in a bed of sand. After a configurable time interval, the sand is smoothed out by a pair of vibrating motors and the cycle begins again. In addition to the automatic time mode, the clock software has a control mode that allows you to control the pen using simple commands.
Another strong point is the Lego control board for Raspberry Pi. This board combines the flexibility of LEGO when it comes to mechanical construction and the flexibility of the Raspberry Pi when it comes to software, internet communications, and a wide range of potential sensors. Programming is possible in languages such as C and Python. As an application example, we show how this board and some LEGO pieces can be used to build a “useless box”.
As you may know, Elektor has a long history and a good reputation with high end but DIY audio projects. In this edition of Elektor Magazine, we are proud to present to you D-Watt, a new power amplifier intended for all audio enthusiasts, built around a digital audio driver integrated circuit and operating in class D. This has the advantage that the amplifier can provide a large output power (like 200 watts into 8 ohms) with very low heat dissipation. Say goodbye to big radiators!
This edition also features exciting articles exploring AxiCat (a versatile USB development tool), BrainBox Arduino, as well as a Super simple dice and one IoT Shield for Arduino, without forgetting part 4 of the Elektor SDR Reloaded series. In good tradition, the edition ends with Retro, this time the Elektor laboratory instruments in the style of the 1980s and 1990s. And of course, we’ve included all of our updates and news to spark your interest and keep you up to date with what’s going on here at Elektor.
Printed copies of the 1/2017 edition can be ordered directly from the Elektor store at no charge for P&P, until the release of the 2/2017 edition.
