Best Town Ever 2015 winner is still striving to be great this year sponsoring the first ever Chattanooga Marathon. With around 65% of the 35,000 participants being local, Chattanoogans once again have shown how close the community really is.

The event weekend includes a full marathon (26.2 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles), the team relay, where a team of two-to-four members take turns running the full marathon, a classic 150 5k (3.1 miles) and a kid’s fun run (1 mile). The full marathon will begin in front of the Aquarium (Broad and 3rd Streets), downtown to St. Elmo, back uptown along Riverfront Parkway and across Veterans Bridge. Then runners will travel up through scenic North Shore neighborhoods, across the Walnut Street Bridge and through UTC’s campus to the Southside once again, to finish at Finley Stadium.

“The Chattanooga Marathon is a great way for everyone in the community to get involved,” says Tim Morgan, president of Chattanooga Sports Committee. “The community has all the right tools in the shed to be successful. Chattanooga has the experts and the tech innovation to engage the local community. And so far, I’m seeing that all come together with this marathon.”
