Fourteen companies have taken advantage of Chattanooga’s one-Gigabit-per-second Internet grid this summer as they pitched their innovative ideas in an attempt to interest investors and secure partnerships that will propel their business. The Company Lab (CO.LAB) hosts GIGTANK, an accelerator for start-ups that are working with advanced networks while developing their business applications. CO.LAB’s aim is to create an entrepreneurial economy that encourages creativity and innovation in order to boost business growth in the Chattanooga area. Through GIGTANK, start-ups are able to connect with investors, entrepreneurs, industry experts and GIGTANK mentors to enhance their capabilities in their particular field.
This year the companies in attendance have come from as far west as California and as far east as Oxford, England. Three of the companies are based in Chattanooga, including Adagio, Branch Technology, and the UTC Fellowship Team. At the end of the 12-week program, the teams participated in Demo Day, held on July 28 at the Girls Preparatory School, where they presented company ideas and products to an audience consisting of the media, potential investors, and business partners.
