Maestro Robert Bernhardt leads the country’s oldest combined symphony and opera at the opulent Tivoli Theatre on Broad Street. Every musical taste will be satisfied with the CSO’s symphony, opera and pops performances. The Chattanooga Theatre Centre is one of the oldest, largest, and busiest community theatres in the country, with more than fifteen productions per year. The Centre’s seven-show MainStage season features a variety of offerings designed to satisfy the tastes of most theatre lovers—dramas, musicals, mysteries, and comedies. More adventurous productions take place four times a year in the Circle Series, and young actors and crews create four plays annually in the internationally acclaimed Youth Theatre.

In 1979 the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga initiated the Dorothy Patten Fine Arts Series, now Patten Performances, to bring nationally and internationally renowned artists to students and residents of the Chattanooga area. The series runs from September through the end of the school year, hosting Dance, Music and Theatre greats.

Ballet Tennessee brings distinction to Chattanooga in professionally produced full length ballets of  Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Millennium Nutcracker, Dracula, and Christmas Carol. The company performs annually at Memorial Auditorium, Tivoli Theater, and Roland Hayes Concert Hall at UTC Fine Arts Center.  Other performances during the season include lecture-demonstrations for school children and community events such as: Allied Arts Campaign Kick-Off, 'The Singing Christmas Tree', Octoberfest, and Chattanooga State noontime concerts.
