The Grande Illumination & Christmas on the River

November This celebration ignites the holiday spirit on the Friday following Thanksgiving, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Coolidge Park. The event begins with a lighted boat parade on the Tennessee River. After the parade, Santa Claus dazzles the audience with a dramatic entrance followed by a radiant show of lights along with dancing and singing. Following the performance, the evening comes to a glittering conclusion with a fireworks finale, signaling the illumination of the city’s skyline for the holiday season.

Breakfast With Santa

November Enjoy a full breakfast, entertainment and an opportunity for pictures with Santa before he heads back to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas. Breakfast with Santa will be held at 8:30 a. m. at The Chattanoogan. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event.   

Appalachian Christmas

December This event offers an abundance of cheer and traditional Appalachian folk and bluegrass music beginning at 7:00 p. m. in Miller Plaza. Local favorites kickoff the evening, followed by a headline performance by a regionally recognized bluegrass group. An Appalachian Santa and complimentary hot cider and sugar cookies round out this favorite free event.

Holiday Starlight Parade

December As Chattanooga’s largest evening holiday parade, this event is known for its dazzling Yuletide theme, featuring performing groups, vehicles and floats strung in twinkling lights! The parade begins at Ross’s Landing and follows Market Street to M. L. King Boulevard.

The Singing Christmas Tree

December Since 1964, the CBC production of the Singing Christmas Tree has ushered in the Holiday Season for all of greater Chattanooga. The Concert Choir, the main performing and touring ensemble, has presented concerts in 38 states and in 18 countries across five continents. From performing sacred masterworks in the great cathedrals of Europe to the National Anthem at the White House and major league baseball games, the choir represents the community as Chattanooga’s “Ambassadors of Goodwill.”

YMCA Christmas Market

November The annual YMCA Christmas Market at the Chattanooga Convention Center is held from 9:00am to 8:00pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, and on Thursday from 9:00am to 7:00pm. This is a shopping wonderland where you'll find specialty shops, Christmas decorations, crafts, and other great gift ideas. Santa Claus will be on hand to hear Christmas wish lists. There is a free shuttle from Finley Stadium to the Market. The event is free for children 12 and under, $8 Adults for all 3 days, $5 for Thursday only.
