The River City Company, along with city and county mayors Berke and Coppinger, joined The Simpson Organization in December to break ground on a 10-story mixed use residential and commercial development, representing a $28 million investment. CEO Boyd Simpson addressed the public gathering and said the project was expected to be completed in 2017. The Simpson Organization, an Atlanta-based commercial property management company bought the property next to SunTrust Bank, which it also owns, last spring.

In January, the company announced its acquisition of Warehouse Row. The restored 19th century buildings house an eclectic mix of retail and dining establishments, including national retailers J.Crew and Anthropologie—the first premier national retailers to move into Chattanooga’s downtown retail corridor in decades.

The two new Chattanooga assets are the latest additions to The Simpson Organization’s portfolio of more than 90 properties comprising more than 5 million commercial square feet of leasable space.
